About Thailand Visa Finder & Uncle Pong
Independent · Visa data reviewed June 2026 · Operated by Genext Information Systems
Thailand Visa Finder is an independent, free planning tool that weighs all 18 legal long-stay visa routes against your real situation and gives you a clear Good / Better / Best recommendation — with honest 2026 cost ranges, the drawbacks most sites skip, and where in Thailand you might actually be happiest. The friendly guide who walks you through it is “Uncle Pong,” our cartoon mascot: the straight-talking Thai uncle who has watched foreigners arrive, settle, and occasionally get into beautiful trouble for forty years.
Who is behind this site
The site is built and maintained by Genext Information Systems, an independent web publisher that creates practical reference and utility tools for people moving to, travelling in, or living long-term in Thailand. We are based in Thailand and have spent years building software, working with data, and helping people cut through confusing official processes. We are not a visa agency, a law firm, or a government body, and we have no commercial relationship with any of the visa routes we describe.
Why we built it (our experience)
Choosing how to stay in Thailand legally is one of the biggest decisions a long-stayer makes — yet most websites covering it are run by agencies that earn a commission steering you toward one product. That is not advice; it is a sales pitch with a smile. We have personally navigated Thai immigration offices, bank-balance requirements, extensions, and the constant rule changes, and we got tired of seeing newcomers pushed toward the wrong visa simply because it paid someone a referral fee.
So we built the tool we wished existed: one that compares every legal route — even the cheap ones nobody profits from sending you to — screens each against hard eligibility gates (age, bank balances, income thresholds, work rights, family status), and then explains the trade-offs in plain language.
Our promise: honest over salesy, every time. If a cheaper or simpler route fits you better, that is the one we will show you — even if it is the one nobody makes money from. We would rather tell you “now isn’t your time” than watch a move go wrong.
How we keep it accurate
Every figure on this site is reviewed against official Thai sources — including the Thai e-Visa portal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Board of Investment for LTR visas — and dated so you can see how current it is. Thai immigration rules change frequently and are applied at officer discretion, so all costs and thresholds are shown as mid-2026 estimates in ranges, and we tell you to re-verify before acting. When the rules move (such as the 2026 visa-exemption changes), we update the tool and note the date.
Part of a small family of tools
Thailand Visa Finder is a sibling to Thailand Holiday Budget Estimator, where we help travellers budget a trip down to the last baht. Same independent approach, same straight talk.
Important
We know Thailand well, but we are not lawyers, and immigration rules here change like Bangkok traffic. Everything on this site is for information and planning only — see our Terms & Disclaimer. Always confirm current requirements with official Thai sources or a licensed immigration lawyer before you act.
